Bag tossing can actually work those upper extremities! In fact, bag tossing can be a purposeful activity used by occupational therapists (same concept as Nintendo Wii exercises) to engage individuals who have decreased muscle mass in the shoulder, wrist, or lumbrical muscles. If someone wants to work on strengthening their shoulder flexors, bag tossing will focus on that area!
We talk a lot about fitness…and while fitness is vital to our health…we also need to take time to focus on wellness. These social games contribute to social well-being. They connect us to other people. One of the key factors to longevity is social support, and while these games might not help your physiology, they do help us stay connected to people and make us well.
